Quarterbacks and wide receivers are the two most important positions in football from an offensive standpoint. Salaries for these two positions have grown exponentially in the past five years. Receiving groups are getting 30 to 40 opportunities as the game moves further away from run-heavy offenses.

There are many great receivers in the league, but the best teams have a great mix of Deep Threat, Possession, and All Around athletic type of players. The defense will always feel pressure if you can hit them on all levels in the passing game while playing Madden 24.

1. Justin Jefferson – 99 OVR (Minnesota Vikings)

Position: Wide Receiver

Justin Jefferson is an absolute stud on the field. He has no rating in the receiver category under 97. Jefferson is at the top of the list of route runners for any route type. He has attribute ratings of 98 Short Route, 97 Medium Route, and 97 Deep Route Running. He is also a freakish athlete with 92 Speed, 96 Jumping Ability, and 93 Acceleration. Jefferson will cause serious headaches for any defense in Madden as you can’t place him into any box.

In the 2022 season, Jefferson led the league in receptions and yardage with 128 receptions for 1,809 yards and eight touchdowns. This earned him Offensive Player of the Year and final candidacy for league MVP.

2. Tyreek Hill – 98 OVR (Miami Dolphins)

Tyreek Hill has been heralded as the fastest player in the league for his entire career and that has not changed in Madden 24. Hill maxed out his Speed and Acceleration attributes with 99 ratings for both. He is the top deep threat in the NFL as well with a 98 rating on Deep Routes and a 94 Catch Rating. As a ball carrier, he is tough to catch with a 99 Change of Direction rating.

In the 2022 Season, Hill had career highs in receptions and yards with 119 catches for 1,710 yards and seven touchdowns. He played one game in the playoffs and recorded seven catches for 69 yards in a loss.

3. Davante Adams – 97 OVR (Las Vegas Raiders)

Davante Adams is an extremely fundamentally sound wide receiver. He is a first-class route runner with a 99 Release and ratings of 97, 96, and 95 on Short, Medium, and Deep Route attributes. Once Adams is open, he is almost guaranteed to come down with the ball due to 97 Catching and 98 Spectacular Catch attributes. His skill set is rounded out with his above-average ratings of 91 Speed and 92 Acceleration.

Last season Adams was named to his sixth consecutive Pro Bowl after catching 100 passes for 1,516 yards and led the league with 14 touchdowns.

4. Cooper Kupp – 96 OVR (Los Angeles Rams)

Cooper Kupp is a sure thing on offense every play. His hands are unparalleled with a 99 Catching rating and he also can run every route at an elite level with 98 Medium Route and maxes out at 99 for Short Route running. Kupp’s skills as a ball carrier are just as impressive. He has attribute ratings of 91 for Speed and 96 for Acceleration. Cupp’s Vision is 95 to go with a 94 Change of Direction. This means he can see a path and get there before a defender knows what hit him.

Injuries sidelined Kupp in Week 10, but he managed 75 receptions and 812 yards before being placed on injury reserve. Kupps was coming off of a Super Bowl year where he led the league with 145 receptions, 1,947 yards, and 16 touchdowns. He also broke the all-time postseason record with 33 receptions.

5. Stefon Diggs – 96 OVR (Buffalo Bills)

Stefon Diggs’s attributes that apply to wide receivers are almost exclusively in the 90s. He has a 98 Catching rating. His lowest route-running rating is 96, which makes him dangerous anywhere on the field. Digg’s is also elite after the catch. He has 94 Vision and is hard to tackle with his 97 Juke Move and 94 Change of Direction attributes. Diggs is also a certified speedster with a 92 Speed rating and a 94 for Acceleration.

During the 2022 season, Diggs caught 108 passes and had a career-high 11 touchdowns and 1,429 yards. He was also a Second-team All-Pro and named to the Pro Bowl for a third time.

6. Ja’Marr Chase – 94 OVR (Cincinnati Bengals)

Ja’Marr Chase is a Playmaking Deep Threat. Not only does he burn defensive backs with his 94 Speed rating, but Chase’s 98 Jumping rating also pushes advantage in his favor on lob passes. Chase has a 93 Change of Direction rating which leads to extended plays by causing defenders to miss tackles.

Last year, Chase missed four games due to injury, but still managed to catch 87 passes for 1,046 yards and nine touchdowns. He led his team in both categories and was selected to the Pro Bowl for the second consecutive year.

7. DeAndre Hopkins – 93 OVR (Tenessee Titans)

DeAndre Hopkins is no surprise on this list. His skill set attributes are mostly in the 90s and many over 95. Hopkins has some of the best hands in the game with 96 Catching, 98 Catch in Traffic, and a maxed 99 Spectacular Catch rating. His skills as a ball carrier are out of this world as well. Hopkin’s Juke Move rating is 90, his Spin Move is 84, and has 93 Vision as a ball carrier. He could have easily been ranked higher on this list if not for his shortened season last year.

Hopkins missed the first six games of the season due to violating league protocols. In the nine games that he played, he caught 64 passes for 717 yards and three touchdowns. He was traded from the Arizona Cardinals to the Titans this offseason.

8. Terry McLaurin – 91 OVR (Washington Commanders)

Terry McLaurin is a deep, medium, and short pass threat evidenced by being ranked in the top ten percent in each category. He has arguably the best hands in football with a 97 Catching rating to go along with a 95 Spectacular Catch and 94 Catch in Traffic attributes. Laurin’s 97 Release rating combined with a 94 Speed and 93 Acceleration rating makes him exceptional at getting off the line and creating separation for defenders.

In 2022, he caught 77 balls for 1,191 yards and five touchdowns. McLaurin was also selected for his first Pro Bowl. He was also ranked as the 93rd best player by NFL.com.

9. A.J. Brown – 91 OVR (Philadelphia Eagles)

A.J. Brown is a top-notch athlete on the football field. His 91 Speed and 93 Acceleration make it tough to cover him on routes. Brown’s 93 Catch in Traffic along with 94 Spectacular Catch ratings makes him an excellent choice against press defenses. Once Brown completes the catch, he then transforms into a deadly ball carrier. Brown has a 96 Vision attribute rating. His other ball carrier attributes rate well above average with Juke Move at 91, Break Tackle at 89, and an 88 Change of Direction attribute. Brown is hard to catch and hard to get down if you get near him.

During the 2022 season, Brown caught 88 balls for 1,496 yards and 11 touchdowns. He made Second Team All-Pro and was selected to his second Pro Bowl on the way to a Super Bowl appearance with the Philadelphia Eagles. Brown had six catches for 96 yards and a touchdown in the 38-35 loss.

10. Amari Cooper – 91 OVR (Cleveland Browns)

Amari Cooper has been a serious deep threat his entire career. Madden 24 is no different as he has a 92 Speed rating and rates 93 in Deep Route Running. Cooper is a bonafide number one receiver who has a reputation as one of the best route runners in the game. He is very deadly at running slants due to his 93 Change in Direction attribute that allows him to stop and go on a dime.

Cooper was traded to the Browns from the Dallas Cowboys for picks in the 2022 NFL Draft. He played all 17 games last year and caught 78 passes for 1,160 yards and scored a career-high nine touchdowns.

There you have Madden 24’s best wide receivers. All receivers have different qualities and attributes so the key is to build a group that lets you explore your entire playbook. Typically you want your number one receiver to be a deep threat, but you also need a receiver that can guarantee you completions in traffic and during contact. Speed kills, but power keeps the chains moving.
